6.3 Setting calibration curve data
The output characteristics of this detector unit depend upon measuring objects. It may also change according to
the process conditions or the measuring conditions of samples.
Accordingly, for accurate moisture measurements, it is required to perform beforehand sample tests of each
object and obtain a relationship (This is called as the calibration curve.) between the moisture constituent
(%H
2
O) obtained by a drying method or other measuring methods and the absorbance “x” measured by this
detector unit. Also, for accurate thickness and coating- thickness measurements, it is required to perform
beforehand sample tests of each object and obtain a relationship (This is called as the calibration curve.) between
the thickness and coating-thickness constituent (
µ
m) obtained by a micro meter or other measuring methods and
the absorbance “x” measured by this detector unit.

This paragraph describes the setting method of calibration curve data, assuming that
calibration curves have been already created. When the calibration curves have not been
created yet, refer to [7. Procedure for creating calibration curves].
Reference
Reference
The absorbance “x” is the ratio of the absorbed amount of the light having the wavelength S
of 1.43, 1.94 or 3µm, which is absorbed
in a measuring object, to that of the light having
the reference wavelength R not absorbed.
