GENERAL INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
SUNROOF OPERATION
WARNING: Keep fingers and other body parts out
of sunroof opening at all times.
The sunroof control switch is located on the wind-
shield header, rearward of the map light. OPEN and
CLOSE are a single rocker switch and VENT is a
push button. Both switches are of the momentary
contact type.
The sunroof features one-touch control for express-
open and express-vent. This is accomplished by
momentarily pressing and releasing the appropriate
switch for not more than one-half second. If the
switch is pressed and held for more than one-half
second it automatically becomes manually operated.
With manual operation the sunroof can be set at any
position. To do this, depress the switch (for more
than one-half second), then, release it when the sun-
roof is at the desired position, or after it stops.
NOTE: The sunroof will operate only when the igni-
tion switch is in the ON or ACC position. The sun-
roof will not operate if the vehicle battery voltage is
below 10 volts. The sunroof cannot be manually
operated (cranked or otherwise) if the sunroof
becomes inoperable without a significant portion of
the headlining being removed.
The manually operated sunshade can be positioned
anywhere along its travel, rearward of glass panel
front edge.
The controller detects hard-stop positions (open
and close) by measuring the amperage draw of the
motor. However, upon detecting a motor stall, regard-
less of glass panel position or direction of motion, the
motor is turned off (examples: iced or frozen mecha-
nism, dirty tracks or obstructed glass panel). Since
winter conditions may cause icing, creating excessive
loads on the motor, the controller could detect a stall
condition before reaching the desired position. For
this reason, the operator may attempt to move the
sunroof glass panel after a stall condition by releas-
ing the control switch before pressing it again.
NOTE: When battery voltage to the sunroof control-
ler is interrupted in any way, the controller will not
be able to find the vent position for the first cycle
after battery voltage is restored. After the first cycle
to the full open and then to the full closed position,
the controller has relearned the vent position and
will function normally.
USE OF THREAD LOCKING COMPOUND
Certain fasteners used in the sunroof have a
thread locking compound applied. Upon removal and
reinstallation of a screw, or when installing a non-
–service part screw, use a suitable compound to
restore thread locking ability. New screws purchased
as a service part come with compound pre–applied.
