9. CONNECTIONS 

Pay  close  attention  to  the  correct  sizing  of  the  power  and  signal  conductors.  For  installations 
requiring long cable paths, the sections of the individual conductors in the shielded cable must 
be appropriately sized. 

The  power cable cross-section must  be  calculated based  on  the length  of  the  section  and  the 
type of NEWTON-L used. The cross-section size of conductors connected to Alarm and Tamper 
contacts depends on the model and on the absorption of the central control unit used. 

Please see the table below,  valid  for single modules (transmitter only or receiver only,  without 
thermostat resistances).

With  regards  to  connection  type,  please  see  specific  instructions  for  the  transmitter  and 
receiver. 

Connect Alarm and Tamper outputs to a suitable alarm control unit. 

11.  ADDITIONAL NEWTON ALIM POWER PACK (optional) 

If connections are too long, it is advisable to use an additional NEWTON ALIM power pack, 
which is equipped with an extra power output, in addition to a 13.8 Vdc output, for demisting 
thermostat resistances and connections for any backup battery. 
The maximum overall current delivered by NEWTON ALIM is 1.5 A. This current must be 
shared among the sensors, thermostat resistances and, if present, the battery.  

The connection between the power pack and the 230 V~ network must be prepared with 
suitable conductors, as per requirements and regulations in force.  
It must also be prepared through an appropriate switching device with the following 
characteristics:  

-  Two-pole with minimum distance between contacts of 3 mm  
-  fitted in the fixed system  
-  easily accessible 

NEWTON ALIM can also be used with installation inside TOWER HT (TX and RX) columns.  

In any case, you must scrupulously comply with the instructions contained in the laws 
and regulations in force relating to fixed installations of equipment permanently 
connected to the mains as in Ministerial Decree 37/08 and CEI 64-8 regulations.
