Abnormal Landings
Landing With Failed Brakes
Landing With Flat Tire
◆
One brake inoperative:
a. Land on the side of runway corresponding to the inoperative brake.
b. Maintain directional control using rudder and working brake.
Procedure Complete
◆
Both brakes inoperative:
a. Divert to the longest, widest runway with the most direct headwind.
b. Land on downwind side of the runway.
c. Use the rudder for obstacle avoidance.
d. Perform
Emergency Engine Shutdown On Ground
Checklist.

Rudder effectiveness will decrease with decreasing airspeed.

Main Gear:
a. Land on the side of the runway corresponding to the good tire.
b. Maintain directional control with the brakes and rudder.
c. Do not taxi. Stop airplane and perform a normal Engine
.

Nose Gear:
a. Land in the center of the runway.
b. Hold the nosewheel off the ground as long as possible.
c. Do not taxi. Stop airplane and perform a normal Engine
.

If a flat tire or tread separation occurs during takeoff and you
cannot abort, land as soon as conditions permit.
