To require the telco-return CM to use a specific Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server,
use the
cable telco-return spd dhcp-authenticate
command in cable interface configuration mode. To
restore the default value, use the
no
form of this command.

The CM can use any available DHCP server.

Usage Guidelines
This command sets the DHCP Authenticate parameter to TRUE (1) for the specified SPD in the
Telephony Channel Descriptor (TCD) messages. It indicates that the CM must use the DHCP server that
is specified with the
cable telco-return spd dhcp-server
command.
Note
This command is available only in images that support telco-return. These images have a “t” as part of
the image name.
Examples
The following example indicates that for SPD 2, CMs must use the DHCP server identified by IP address
192.168.255.255:
