External Software Applications
CiscoWorks2000
The CiscoWorks2000 solutions assist in managing the enterprise network. These
solutions address three areas in the network: WAN, LAN, and service level
management.

LAN Management Solution (LMS)

Routed WAN Management Solution

Service Management Solution (SMS)
Several advanced applications are also available:
•
CiscoWorks2000 Device Fault Manager (DFM)—provides real-time, detailed
fault analysis for Cisco devices.
•
User Registration Tool (URT)—actively identifies users with the network and
creates user policy bindings for policy registration, mobility, and tracking.
•
CiscoWorks2000 Voice Manager (CVM)—web-based voice management and
reporting tool provides enhanced capabilities to configure and provision
voice ports, and create and modify dial plans on voice-enabled Cisco routers
for VoIP, Voice over Frame Relay (VoFR), and Voice over Asynchronous
Transfer Mode (VoATM) networks.
LAN Management Solution
LMS features web versions of the Layer 2/Layer 3 topology tool, user tracking,
virtual LAN (VLAN) manager, path trace, and other functions from CiscoWorks
for Switched Internetworks (CWSI).

Time-based access lists
Defines security policy by time of day and day of week.
Peer router authentication
Ensures that routers receive reliable routing information from
trusted sources.
Improved attack detection and
defense for e-mail servers
New intrusion detection is designed specifically for
SMTP-oriented attacks.
