Connecting a Ground Cable
IG21R and IG31R gateways must be connected to a reliable earth ground. Install the ground cable in accordance
with local electrical safety standards.
For NEC-compliant grounding, use size 16 AWG (1.5 mm^2) or larger copper wire and a ring terminal with
an inner diameter of 1/4 in. (6 to 7mm).
For EN/IEC 60950-compliant grounding, use size 17 AWG (1 mm^2) or larger copper wire.
WARNING:
This equipment must be grounded. Never defeat the ground conductor or operate the equipment
in the absence of a suitably installed ground conductor. Contact the appropriate electrical inspection authority
or an electrician if you are uncertain that suitable grounding is available. Statement 1024
CAUTION:
Cable distribution system should be grounded (earthed) in accordance with ANSI/NFPA 70, the
National Electrical Code (NEC), in particular Section 820.93, Grounding of Outer Conductive Shield of a
Coaxial Cable.
• Ensure that the ground cable is connected correctly so that the equipment is protected against lightning
and other interference. The correct connection of the ground cable is an important measure to ensure
safety.
• Connect the chassis to the ground by using a ground cable. The grounding resistance must be smaller
than 0.10 ohms and the gauge of the ground cable must be no less than 18 AWG and the length is 100
cm.
• Do not remove the ground cable during normal operation or maintenance.
To install the ground connection on IG21R or IG31R gateways, follow these steps:
1.
Disconnect the device from its power source.
2.
Strip one end of the ground cable to the length required for the terminal.
3.
Use a Philips head screwdriver to remove the ground connector screw on the gateway.
4.
Attach the grounding cable ring terminal to the device using the ground cable connector screw.
5.
Connect the other end of the ground cable to a suitable grounding point.
