Forwarding
The
Port Range Forwarding
screen allows you to set up
public services on your network, such as web servers,
FTP servers, e-mail servers, or other specialized Internet
applications . (Specialized Internet applications are any
applications that use Internet access to perform functions
suchasvideoconferencingoronlinegaming .SomeInternet
applicationsmaynotrequireanyforwarding .)
Whenuserssendthesetypesofrequeststoyournetwork
viatheInternet,theValetwillforwardthoserequeststothe
appropriate servers (computers) . Before using forwarding,
you should assign static IP addresses to the designated
servers(usetheDHCPReservationfeatureonthe
Basic Setup
screen, refer to“DHCP Reservation” on page 17 for more
details) .
Ifyouneedtoforwardallportstoonecomputer,clickthe
DMZ tab .

PortRangeForwarding
Toforwardaport,entertheinformationoneachlinefor
thecriteriarequired .
Application Name
In this field, enter the name you
wishtogivetheapplication .Eachnamecanbeupto12
characters .
Start~End Port
Enter the number or range of port(s)
usedbytheserverorInternetapplications .Checkwiththe
Internetapplicationdocumentationformoreinformation .
Protocol
Select the protocol used for this application,
eitherTCPorUDP,orBoth .
To IP Address
Foreachapplication,entertheIPaddress
ofthePCrunningthespecificapplication .Ifyouassigned
a static IP address to the PC, then you can click DHCP
Reservationonthe
Basic Setup
screentolookupitsstatic
IP address (refer to“DHCP Reservation” on page 17 for
moredetails) .
Enabled
Select Enabled to enable port forwarding for
theapplicationsyouhavedefined .
ClickSave Settingstoapplyyourchanges,orclickCancel
Changestoclearyourchanges .

Triggering
The
Port Range Triggering
screen allows the Valet to
watch outgoing data for specific port numbers . The IP
address of the computer that sends the matching data
isrememberedbytheValet,sothatwhentherequested
data returns through the Valet, the data is pulled back
to the proper computer by way of IP address and port
mappingrules .

Application Name
Enter the application name of the
trigger .
Triggered Range
Foreachapplication,enterthestarting
andendingportnumbersofthetriggeredportnumber
range .CheckwiththeInternetapplicationdocumentation
fortheportnumber(s)needed .
Forwarded Range
For each application, enter the
starting and ending port numbers of the forwarded
portnumberrange .CheckwiththeInternetapplication
documentationfortheportnumber(s)needed .
Enabled
SelectEnabledtoenableporttriggeringforthe
applicationsyouhavedefined .
ClickSave Settingstoapplyyourchanges,orclickCancel
Changestoclearyourchanges .
