Select and prepare an installation site that meet requirements.

Rack mounting instructions. The Cisco MXE 3500 occupies one rack unit. A 4-post rail kit is 
included in the shipment.

Caution

We recommend that you use the supplied attachment hardware to rack-mount the system. Failure to use 
the correct hardware or to follow the correct procedures could result in damage to the system.

Use the following information when connecting peripheral cables and power cords to the rear panel of 
the Cisco MXE 3500.

Warning

To reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or damage to the equipment, do not plug telephone or 
telecommunications connectors into RJ-45 connectors.
