Removing and Replacing the External Connection Unit
This section describes how to remove and replace the external connection unit (ECU). The ECU provides all
shelf electrical I/O connectivity to the active and standby route-processor line cards. The Cisco NCS 4009
chassis is shipped with the ECU installed.
Prerequisites

Open the front door, if installed.
•
Make sure that the craft panel has been removed. See the
Removing and Replacing the Craft Panel, on
page 260
.
Required Tools and Equipment
•
ESD-preventive wrist strap
•
6-inch, number-1 Phillips screwdriver
•
ECU (Cisco PID NCS4K-ECU=)
