Preface
Unless otherwise specified, “ONS 15454” refers to both ANSI and ETSI M12 shelf assemblies.
Note
The terms “Unidirectional Path Switched Ring” and “UPSR” may appear in Cisco literature. These terms do
not refer to using Cisco ONS 15xxx products in a unidirectional path switched ring configuration. Rather,
these terms, as well as “Path Protected Mesh Network” and “PPMN”, refer generally to Cisco's path protection
feature, which may be used in any topological network configuration. Cisco does not recommend using its
path protection feature in any particular topological network configuration.
Note
Due to memory limitations, TCC2/TCC2P cards are not supported as the node controller in multi-shelf
configuration from R10.5.2.6. Hence, it is recommended to use TCC3 card as the node controller in multi-shelf
configuration. However, the TCC2/TCC2P cards can be used as a subtended controller and also in a stand-alone
configuration.
