RAID Controller Card Replacement
This section describes the replacement of the internal RAID controller card.
Only Cisco supported RAID controller cards can be used for replacement.

Procedure
Step 1
Power off the chassis and remove power cords from all power supplies.
Step 2
Remove the top cover from the chassis.
Step 3
Remove a RAID controller card:
a) Disconnect the RAID battery and SAS cables at the cable connection points.
b) Using your fingers, gently lift straight up on both ends of the RAID controller card to disengage it from
the socket on the motherboard.
Step 4
Install the new RAID controller card:
a) Position the RAID controller card over its socket on the motherboard and over the alignment features.
b) Carefully push down on both ends of the RAID controller card to fully engage its circuit board connector
with the socket on the motherboard.
c) Connect the RAID battery and SAS cables at the cable connection points.
The cable from the rear drive backplane (item 4 in the following figure) must connect to the lower
connector on the RAID controller card. The cable from the front of the server connects to the
upper connector on the RAID controller card.
