How to Perform Planned Maintenance
Indicator Lights
Check that all lights are functioning and indicate normal truck
operation as described in Section 3, “Operator Compartment and
Controls,” in this manual.
Service Brakes and Inching Pedal
With the direction control in NEUTRAL and the engine running, push
the service brake pedal fully down and hold. The brakes should apply
before the pedal reaches the floorplate. If the pedal continues to
creep downward, report the failure immediately.
Do not operate the
truck until the brakes are repaired
. Perform the same check with
the inching pedal. (Additional braking/inching checks will follow.)
Parking Brake (C15-35)
Check the function of the parking brake. Release,
then reapply. To check parking brake holding
capability, park the lift truck on a grade and apply
the parking brake. The parking brake should hold
a lift truck with rated load on a 15% grade.

Do not operate a lift truck if the service or parking brakes
are not operating properly.
Lift Mechanisms and Controls
Pull back on the tilt control lever and hold until the upright reaches
the full back tilt position. Push forward on the lever to return the
upright to the vertical position. Release the lever.
CAUTION

Be sure that there is adequate
overhead clearance before raising
the upright.
Pull back on the lift control lever and raise
the fork carriage to full height. Watch the
upright assembly as it rises. Release the
lever.
