SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

ALWAYS

check before use for signs of cracked welds, or any other structural

damage and do not use if any of these conditions exist. Have repairs made
only by authorised service centres.

NEVER

tamper with the machine. The safety valve is calibrated and sealed at

the factory, do not attempt to change these settings.

Use

ONLY

the recommended hydraulic oil.

NEVER

use the machine for any purpose other than that for which it is

designed.

NEVER

substitute bolts, pins, or any other components. (Components of this

Cable Cutter are specially designed to withstand the rated capacity).

NEVER

attempt to cut cable with a thickness greater than 1¼”

NEVER

operate the pump further, once the red line becomes visible on the

extended ram.

NEVER

replace the cutter pivots (B, fig.1) with any bolt other than that supplied

by  your CLARKE dealer or CLARKE International.

OPERATION

1.

Remove the dust cap (A) from the
Cable Cutter Ram inlet.

2.

Ensuring the Pump Release Valve
(C) is fully open, i.e turned
anticlockwise, and the Pump Ram
therefore fully retracted, attach
the hose from the Pump to the
Cutter inlet connection.   Tighten
securely by hand.

3.

Clamp the Cutter to the cable and close the Pump Release Valve by turning
it clockwise fully, then proceed to pump the pump handle.

IMPORTANT:

If the cable is taught or under load at the time of cutting, keep well away from

it, as the cable may ‘spring’ when cut.  Take all necessary precautions to avoid

damage or injury which could ensue.

MAINTENANCE

Always inspect before use to ensure the hose is in good condition, and there are
no hydraulic leaks.  If the hose is kinked or damaged in any way, have it replaced
immediately. (Contact your CLARKE dealer)

A slight seepage from the ram is acceptable, but if oil is seen to drip, then the
equipment MUST be serviced. Consult your CLARKE dealer.

If there has been a slight seepage, check the oil level as follows:

Ensure the Pump Ram is fully retracted by turning the Release Valve fully
anticlockwise.

Place the Pump in an upright position with the filler plug uppermost.

Remove the filler plug using a suitable spanner and check the oil level, which
should be level with the FULL mark on the dipstick.  If necessary, top up with
CLARKE Hydraulic Oil. (See your CLARKE dealer)
