Normally a program is loaded the same moment you press a
P
ROGRAM
button, or as soon as you turn
the
V
ALUE
D
IAL
. Sometimes you may want to browse through the programs without leaving the cur-
rent program, for example while still playing with the other hand. Then you can use the “pending pro-
gram change” feature:
• While pressing
S
HIFT
, turn the
V
ALUE
D
IAL
until you see the program you want to load in the
D
ISPLAY
. Release the
S
HIFT
button. The corresponding
P
ROGRAM
B
UTTON
will flash to show
you that it is ready to load. Press the flashing button to load the program.
• If you change your mind, press
E
XIT
(S
HIFT
)
to cancel the operation.
P
AGE
-/+
BUTTONS
The
P
AGE
-/+
buttons are used to select Program Pages and to navigate between System menu pages.
Hold either button to browse quickly through the pages.
When combined with the
S
HIFT
button, the
P
AGE
buttons step through all the 121 available Pro-
grams.
D
ISPLAY
The
M
AIN
D
ISPLAY
normally shows the name of the currently selected Program, but is also used for
displaying various system parameters and messages.

S
HIFT
/ E
XIT
BUTTON
Many buttons and knobs have secondary functions that you can access by holding down
S
HIFT
and pressing the button or turning the knob. The Shift induced functions are always
printed below the corresponding button or knob. For example, pressing
S
HIFT
+ P
RO
-
GRAM

button will allow you to access the MIDI system parameters.
In a few cases, the “shift” functionality can be achieved by double-clicking a button. This works pri-
marily with Keyboard Zone assignments and Effect source selects.
The
S
HIFT
button is also an
E
XIT
button, for example when you want to exit a menu, or cancel a Store
operation.

The
V
ALUE
D
IAL
to the right of the
D
ISPLAY
is used to select Program locations, to set system pa-
rameter values and to “type” in Program names.
When used with the
S
HIFT
button, the
V
ALUE
D
IAL
selects a Program, but does not load it until you
press the corresponding, blinking
P
ROGRAM
