HEADTOPS USER MANUAL - ENGLISH
1. Introduction
Headtops are tested and approved for use with Clean-AIR filter-venti
-
lation units in compliance with European standards EN 12941/A2, EN
12942/A2, EN 14594:2005, as amended. The list of approved combina-
tions and classifications to protection classes is in Chapter 7 – Technical
Data.
Filtered air is blown to Headtops from above (except for masks, in which
it is blown from the face part). The correctly put on headtop tight to the
face ensures, in a combination with the flow of supplied air, creating a
slight overpressure in the face space, which prevents dust and other
contaminants from entering the user‘s respiratory zone.
The most suitable combination of a headtop with the filter-ventilation
unit is determined according to the type and concentration of harmful
pollutants in the work environment and according to the work perfor-
med. The entire range of products enables you to choose the appropriate
protection for most industrial applications.

3. Basic instructions for use
Read these Instructions for Use carefully and follow them. The user must
be perfectly familiar with the correct use of protective equipment.
• The user must know the type of contamination and its concentration
in the ambient air.
• The oxygen concentration in the surrounding of a person using the
filtration system must not drop below 17% in Europe. In the Nether
-
lands, Belgium, UK, Australia, and New Zealand it must not drop be-
low 19%. For the other countries obtain their requirements.
• Do not use in explosive environments.
•
Follow the instructions in the Instructions for Use of Clean-AIR filter
units and the Instructions for Use of filters.
•
Only use with the filter-ventilation unit switched on. Filters must not
be connected straight to the hood!
•
The filtered air overpressure inside the protective headtop is the pri
-
mary protective factor preventing the ambient air contaminants from
penetrating. In the case of filtration systems with hoods, the protec
-
tion of respiratory organs with the fan switched off is low or none.
Also, the carbon dioxide concentration may increase and the oxygen
content may decrease inside the hood.
• To put the hoods on comfortably, they have an adjustable headband
(straps).
•
Make sure that the sealing line of the headtop fits tightly to the face
(in hoods, tightness can be adjusted using the self-tightening clamp
under the chin). Only then may the perfect protection level be se-
cured. The protection factor may be reduced if the user has hair or
beard extending to the face sealing part. If it gets to the sealing line,
the penetration will increase and the protection provided by the sys-
tem will decrease.
• During very hard work, a vacuum may be created inside the head-
top during inhaling and thus the protection factor may be reduced
temporarily.
4. Cleaning and Disinfection

Every time you finish your work, clean the headtop, check its indivi
-
dual parts and replace damaged parts.
• Cleaning must be carried out in a well-ventilated room. Avoid inhaling
harmful dust settled on individual parts!
• For cleaning, use tepid water (up to +40°C) with soap or some other
non-abrasive detergent and a soft brush.
• It is forbidden to use agents containing solvents for cleaning.
• After individual parts have been cleaned with a damp cloth, they must
be wiped dry or left to dry at the ambient temperature.
• Common preparations, such as Ajatin, Incidur, etc., may be used for
the disinfection of parts coming into contact with skin.

5. Maintenance, Spare Parts Replacement, and
Cleaning
Before using a new product, always check that the equipment is comple-
te and that no damage occurred during transport.
Grinding visor CA – 3 and protective visor CA – 3A
The grinding visor is supplied with the visor mounted. Take out the visor
and remove the protective foil before use.
A separately supplied foil 0.1 mm thick is designated to protect the visor
of the CA – 3 visor. To fix it to the visor, the foil is provided with self-ad

hesive tapes on sides.

Face seal – polyamide floated with PU and PVC
Protective foil – diacetate
The visor selvage bears the mark acc. to EN 166 on the inner selvage
of the visor.
Face seal replacement:
Removing the face seal:
• Removing the face seal:
• Release the face seal from the velcro fasteners on the headband.
•
Tear the face seal off the velcro fastener on the visor and on the front
part of the air duct.
• Carry out this operation carefully so as not to unstick also the velcro
fastener.
Putting on the face seal:
• Start in the middle of the lower edge and proceed symmetrically up-
wards fastening the face seal edge to the velcro fastener along the
entire circumference.
• Fix the face seal to the air duct.
•
With the velcro fastener fix the face seal to the headband.
•
Check that the face seal fits well along the entire circumference and
that there are no holes caused by folds on the face seal
Setting the distance of visor to face:
•
Unlock the headband from the fixed position.
• Take out the grey pin on both sides of the visor.
• Set the optimum distance to chin (4 positions).
Setting the depth of headband:
• Set the optimum depth using the pins on the top part of the head-
band.
Setting the circumference of headband:
• Push and turn the knob on the rear side of the headband.
• Adjust the circumference so that it is not too tight or loose.
Visor replacement (PICTURE ANNEX 1):
Taking the visor out:
• Pull at the visor edge in the lower part.
• At the same time push from the lower inner side of the visor out.
Mounting the visor:
• Fix the lower part of visor into the provided opening.
• Slide the upper part of visor under the top selvage of the visor.
• Slide the side edges of the visor into the lower grooves.
Warning: The visor with acetate visor (CA – 3A) cannot be used for
grinding!
