Attach U-Channel to Frame
INSTALL U-CHANNEL—ADDITIONAL PURCHASE REQUIRED
If you purchased cover material for the cold frame, read the information that follows. A building with a film (or 5.2 oz)
cover typically requires the installation of u-channel. U-channel is attached to the top of each end rafter using Tek
screws. Cover is then secured using spring wire to the u-channel at one end and stretched to the other end where it is
secured to that u-channel.
Additionally, the cover is secured to u-channel running along the sides of the frame either near ground level (as shown
in the example below) or a few feet above depending on application and personal preference.
Attach u-channel to the top of each end rafter. Sample
building shows an optional end wall kit.
Spring wire used to secure film
cover in u-channel.
Diagrams below show attaching
u-channel to the end rafter and to
the customer-supplied baseboard.
Do not use Tek screws to attach
u-channel to wood.
Side u-channel can also be
attached directly to the cold frame
rafters if desired.
Double u-channel is shown in this example.
Single u-channel is installed the same way.
