COOLANT RESERVOIR

COOLANT RESERVOIR REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect battery.

2.
Raise the hood and remove the reservoir cap.
See following WARNING.
WARNING
• Coolant reservoir and radiator are pressurized. Remove caps slowly to relieve pressure.
• Hot! Coolant system is pressurized. Do not remove radiator cap while engine is hot.

Place a large drain pan under the radiator and front differential to collect coolant.
See following NOTE.
NOTE:
Do not remove the drain pan until the reservoir has been replaced and the hoses attached.

Turn the drain valve at the radiator counterclockwise, for one and one-half turns only, to drain enough coolant to
empty the reservoir. Once empty, close radiator drain valve.

NOTE:
The radiator drain valve does not have a drain STOP position. It can be removed from the radiator if turned
more than one and one-half rotations.
5.
From under the instrument panel, release the clamp securing the 5/8 inch hose to the bottom of the reservoir and
remove hose
6.
Release the clamps securing the two hoses at top of reservoir and remove hoses.
7.
Remove the two bolts securing reservoir to chassis. Access to rear bolt is from under the instrument panel.
Access to the other bolt is between the reservoir and fender.
8.
Lift up rear of reservoir to clear mounting tab of chassis and pull reservoir forward and up to remove.
