PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT – AT REAR CALIPERS
NOTE:
The park brake system is largely self-adjusting, but as the rear brake pads become worn, it may become
necessary to adjust the park brake system at the rear brake calipers as part of the overall park brake
adjustment procedure. This can be done with the rear brake caliper adjustment bolts.
1.
Press on service brake pedal to ensure caliper pistons are set against rotor.
2.
Chock the wheels, release the park brake, and place the Forward/Reverse handle in the NEUTRAL position.
3.
Loosen, but do not remove the jam nut (1) on the adjustment bolt (2) of caliper park brake lever (3)
.
4.
Carefully thread in and finger-tighten the adjustment bolt (2). Then, back adjustment bolt out 1/2 turn.
5.
Once resistance is felt, stop and hold the adjustment bolt (2) securely. Tighten the jam nut (1) to 100 in-lb
(11.3 N·m).
6.
Repeat previous steps on the other rear caliper.
7.
Inspect the brake system to ensure that both the hydraulic brake system and the park brake system are adjusted
and operating correctly before the vehicle is returned to service.
See Brake System Inspection on page 6-1.
