User`s manual for BSC - Stripping tool for bonded screens
on elastomeric cables
N.B. For peelable semi-conductive screens use M31 tool.
1.
Preparation of cable
- clean the cable
- put silicon grease on the bonded
semi-conductor
2.1. Preparation of tool
Open the tool body by unscr ewing nut (1).
Pull the two parts of the body apart.
Loosen the screw by turning the bolt (2)
by 180° - do not unscr ew completely!
Remove the blade (4) completely by
turning screw (3) as far as it will go.
Fit BSC tool onto bonded semi-conductor as
shown. Tigthen screw (1).
Set the blade (4) to the required depth by
turning screw (3).
Tighten the bol t (2)
Remove 4 cm of semi-conductor, unscrew bolt
(6), put the V-shaped interior (5) on to the
insulation and lock the bol t (6).
2.2. Bonded semi-conductor removal

The tools must be used on non-live cables by skilled workers who are competent in cable
preparation and know about electrical phenomenons.

Wearing gloves is obligatory.

Clean the tools after each use.
