Starting the engine
– Lay the machine on a flat surface free of growth
such that it rests on the motor and the protective
hood.
Cold start
– Set ignition switch (11) to
[START]
.
– Gently press fuel pump (20) often enough that no
more bubbles are visible (approx. 7×).
– Move the choke lever (16) all the way down
[ ]
.
– Use your left hand to hold the machine firmly by
the top shaft tube.
– Slowly pull out the pull starter (14) until there is
resistance, then quickly and strongly pull it fur-
ther until the motor starts briefly.
– Move the choke lever (16) to the middle posi-
tion
[ ]
.
– Pull the pull starter again quickly and strongly
until the motor runs.
– Allow the engine to run 15–30 s.
– Slowly press down on the throttle to increase the
motor speed and let the motor run at full throttle
for a while.
Warm start
– Do not operate the choke lever (16) (top posi-
tion
[ ]
) to warm start the machine.
– Pull the pull starter until the motor runs.
– If the motor does not start after you pulled the
starter three times, repeat the starting procedure
as described under motor cold start .
Switching off the motor
– Set ignition switch (11) on the operating handle
to
[STOP]
.
The motor will switch off.
Use
Make yourself fully familiar with the technique of
using the machine before starting to use it. For more
information, refer to appropriate technical literature.
The instructions listed here are only intended to
serve as additional information!
Proper posture
– Before operating the machine, hang the shoul-
der strap over your left shoulder.
– Hold the operating bar with both hands.
– Motor and shaft tube are positioned on your right
side.
– Balance the machine and ensure a natural
stance.
Cutting tips
DANGER! Danger of fire!
The machine
may catch fire due to any fuel which may
have been spilled.
Carefully wipe off any spilled fuel before
starting the motor.
Start the machine at least nine metres away
from the spot where you filled it with fuel.
DANGER! Danger of injury!
When starting
the machine, make sure it rests firmly and
steadily. You must be able to hold it firmly
and securely with one hand, without any-
thing coming into contact with the trimming
head. The trimming tool rotates during
starting!
Note:
Pull the pull starter out and slowly
guide it back using your hand.
Note:
if the choke lever is set to cold
start
[ ]
:
Keep pulling the pull starter only until you
hear a first ignition sound. Otherwise, there
is a risk of fuel getting into the combustion
chamber, which would prevent an ignition
spark.
DANGER! Danger of injury!
Switch the
motor off:
• when the trimming tool has come into
contact with hard objects;
• when you notice changes in the
machine’s behaviour;
• when the motor sound has changed.
Check the machine and have it repaired if
necessary. Never work with a damaged
machine or trimming tool.
DANGER! Danger of injury!
If you hold
the motor too high, or on the wrong (left
hand) side, you may become liable to
severe burns from hot surfaces. The motor
must always be:
– on your right hand side and
– behind the body at waist height.
DANGER! Great danger of injury by
recoil!
Dangerous recoil may occur during
the operation of a petrol-driven rotary trim-
mer! Uncontrolled recoil may cause the
machine to be accelerated or thrown for-
ward. Follow the instructions given on trim-
ming. In particular, when trimming solid
materials (e. g. brushwood, bushes, etc.),
make sure not to trim in areas where a
recoil of the machine is possible.
