4.5 BUZZER
If the temperature rises above 80°C, the control unit will emit an audible beep and
the display will flash to warn the user of overheating.
5. MAINTENANCE AND CARE
To maintain the cooker in good working order it is good practice to regularly clean the exterior and internal parts where
there is buildup of soot , which, in addition to blocking the air flow and thus impairing efficiency, can sometimes also
catch fire.
5.1 Maintenance of the cooker exterior
All maintenance operations, and in particular cleaning the glass, must be carried out only when the cooker is cold.
Always dry the surfaces after cleaning.
5.2 Removal/disposal of ashes
The JOHANNA range cooker is equipped with a fuel loading grate. All ashes should be removed from this grate before
loading fuel.
Do not allow the ashes to build up in the ash pan under the grate, as this will obstruct the flow of fresh air required for
combustion.
Warning: hot ashes must not be put into waste bins. To avoid risk of fire, allow the ashes to cool in the open air inside a
suitable container.
5.3 Cleaning the cast iron hotplate
Before lighting the cooker for the first time, we recommend that you clean the hotplate with an absorbent cloth in order to
remove the protective grease.
Before first use and after cleaning, the hotplate should be preheated for about half an hour with the oven door open and
the oven bypass damper lever pushed towards the inside of the cooker.
For everyday cleaning of the hotplate, we recommend the use of slightly abrasive materials (e.g.: glass paper or steel
wool), rubbing gently in the direction of the surface finish.
Before periods of non-use, apply a thin film of olive oil or neutral vaseline to the hotplate to protect it.
5.4 Cleaning the flue
A reduction in the heat output and leakage of fumes into the living space can almost always be attributed to obstruction
of the flue. The cooker flue must be cleaned at regular intervals: the rate at which soot accumulates will depend largely
on the type of fuel burnt and how the frequently the cooker is used, but also on the efficiency of the flue.
To clean the flue, proceed as follows to avoid soot dispersal:
-
Clean only when the cooker is cold;
-
Close all the openings which are not to be cleaned;
-
Disconnect the flue pipes:
-
Remove the hotplates from the range cooker and
clean the undersides of the hotplates outdoors.
-
Remove the oven base plate as shown in the figure,
then scrape the soot off the area under the oven.
-
After cleaning all the flueways, close the control
(
