15.  Review the image, and see if 

there is any difference. 

 

 

16.  If the focus looks to be 

getting better, move the 
screw in the same direction a 
bit more. If looks worse, turn 
it back to the reference mark 
and move a bit more in that 
same direction  

 

 

17.  If the image looks worse, turn 

it back to the reference mark 
and continue to move a small 
amount in that same 
direction.  

 

 

18.  Repeat until the focus looks 

as good as it can get. It 
maybe that the alignment 
moves, and the auto-stitch 
will bring it back in. If not the 
scanner will need to be 
returned for alignment, as 
this is not possible in the 
field.
