HORIZONTAL VENTING
A heater that operates as a positive vent static pressure with
vent gas temperatures that avoids excessive condensation
is classified as ‘Category III”. Horizontally vented systems
will operate as a positive vent static pressure when using 4”
(10 cm) or 6” (15 cm) diameter vent materials and would be
classified as “Category III”. The following venting materials
supplied by Combustion Research Corp. are certified for use
and is to be installed as illustrated below.
The vent/pipe material shall be minimum 26 gauge materials
constructed of galvanized, aluminized or stainless steel.
Vent Pipe Materials
Aluminized steel, 6” (15 cm) O.D. spiral tubing
P/N 0604.AS – 9’-9” Long
Heat treated aluminized, 6” (15 cm) O.D. spiral tubing.
P/N 0604.AS.HT – 9’-9” Long
Aluminized 409 Stainless 6” (15 cm) O.D. spiral tubing.
P/N 0604.SS – 9’-9” Long
A maximum of 20’ (6 m) of vent pipe with a maximum of two
90°elbows (supplied by Combustion Research Corp.) may
be used. The horizontal vent pipe must be securely
supported every 5’ (1.5 m). All joints are to be sealed with
RTV Silicone sealant such as General Electric RTV 106 or
Permatex Form-A-Gasket Red High Temperature Silicone
Adhesive Sealant.
Single wall and dual wall ‘Category III’ vent materials
(provided by the installer) may also be used for the
horizontal venting requirements.
Horizontal Venting, Non Combustible Walls
Use a Maximum of 20' (6.1 m) of vent pipe and two elbows.
