MAINTENANCE
GENERAL
The
COMPACT
Refrigerated
Air
Dryer
requires
little
maintenance.
Fan
motor
bearings
are
pre
‐
packed
and
sealed.
However,
it
is
recommended
to
inspect
and
service
your
Dryer
at
regular
intervals
to
obtain
maximum
benefits.
Before
doing
any
repairs
or
maintenance
work,
make
sure
the
dryer
is
depressurised
and
electrically
isolated
(switch
off
main
switch).
Never
try
to
do
any
work
on
the
dryer
while
it
is
still
working.
During
maintenance
or
repairs
always
use
the
required
protections
and/or
protective
clothing.
CAUTION
:
even
when
the
dryer
has
been
switched
off,
some
parts
may
be
hot
and/or
cold
(burns
or
freezing
wounds).
After
repairs/maintenance,
always
replace
the
panels.
Service
and
maintenance
time
intervals
depend
on
the
operating
conditions
of
your
Dryer.
Maintenance
and
repair
are
only
to
be
performed
by
authorised,
trained
and
skilled
employees
PERIODIC
MAINTENANCE
Check
compressed
air
temperature
and
pressure
against
design
conditions.
Remove
panels
and
inspect
refrigerant
condenser.
For
proper
operation
it
is
essential
that
on
air
cooled
units
condenser
fins
are
free
of
dirt
and
dust.
On
water
cooled
units
tubes
must
be
free
of
blockage.
Regular
cleaning
is
therefore
required.
The
condensate
trap
is
installed
within
the
Dryer
cabinet.
If
the
condensate
does
not
appear
to
be
draining
properly
remove
panels
and
inspect
condensate
trap(s).
The
service
life
of
the
water
separator
is
theoretically
unlimited.
Should,
however,
the
housing
start
to
leak
replace
the
seals.
Check
seals
and
clean
threads
on
bowl.
Check
auto
drain
seal
and
replace
if
worn.
Auto
drain
assembly
is
not
serviceable
and
must
be
replaced
if
faulty.
Repressurise
and
check
for
leaks.
If
leaking,
this
is
probably
from
the
bowl
‘O’
ring.
Depressurise
and
clean,
then
refit
and
repressurise.
Use
only
the
correct
tools
for
maintenance
and
repairs
and
replace
parts
only
with
original
spares.
Work
as
cleanly
as
possible
while
carrying
out
maintenance
and
repair
jobs.
Stop
dirt
from
entering
the
separator
by
covering
exposed
parts
and
openings
with
a
clean
cloth
or
adhesive
tape.
Make
sure
that
any
tools,
parts,
or
cleaning
cloths
are
left
neither
inside
nor
on
the
dryer.
LUBRICATION
The
COMPACT
Air
Dryers
utilizes
hermetically
sealed
refrigeration
units.
These
refrigeration
units
are
factory
charged
with
oil
which
does
not
need
regular
changing
or
filling
up.
In
case
of
a
leak,
oil
can
be
added
after
repair.
Attention:
always
use
polyolester
cooling
compressor
oil
(see
nameplate
of
the
cooling
compressor.
REFRIGERATION
SYSTEM
REPAIR
Should
any
service
and/or
repair
work
be
required
on
the
refrigeration
system,
it
is
recommended
to
have
it
done
by
an
experienced
refrigeration
engineer,
following
the
EW
378
guideline
at
all
times.
All
refrigerant
piping,
and
fittings,
must
be
absolutely
clean
to
avoid
system
operating
difficulties.
Refrigerant
is
an
excellent
solvent
and
any
grease,
dirt
or
scale
not
removed
while
installing
the
piping
will
clog
strainers,
dehydrators
and
expansion
valves
and
cause
other
problems
in
the
system.
Use
a
good
cleaning
agent.
Joints
must
be
cleaned
thoroughly
before
sweating.
Replace
the
Filter
Dryer
whenever
the
Refrigeration
System
has
been
opened
for
repairs.
Before
charging
the
refrigerant
system
with
refrigerant,
make
sure
it
is
completely
dry
and
under
vacuum
(remaining
moisture
degree
in
the
Dryer
may
be
of
max
100ppm).
If
the
compressor
must
be
replaced,
the
cause
of
failure
must
be
determined
prior
to
replacement!
In
case
of
compressor
burn
out,
all
damaging
substances
must
be
removed
completely
from
the
refrigeration
system
(if
necessary
,
use
oil/acid
test).
IMPORTANT
!
WHEN
PERFORMING
MAINTENANCE
WORKS
ONLY
USE
MATERIALS
AUTHORIZED
FOR
USE
IN
CONJUNCTION
WITH
NON
‐
CHLORINE
BASED
COOLANTS
(e.g.
R134a,
R404A,
R407C,
etc.)
