MAINTENANCE
10.1 ROUTINE
MAINTENANCE
WARNING - Refer to SAFETY SECTION before carrying out any maintenance or Servicing
- Lethal voltages are used, use extreme caution
Before dismantling any component part take the following steps:
10.1.1.1. Close the isolating valve to the users pipework
10.1.1.2. Switch OFF power supply at the isolator, remove fuses and place Warning notice.
10.1.1.3. Make sure that no pressurised air remains in the system. Open manual drain on the 3rd
stage separator.
10.1.1.4. Check that all pressure gauges read zero.
It is important to check the compressor performance regularly to ensure maximum efficiency and
reliability.
Personnel accustomed to mechanical equipment maintenance and servicing should have no difficulty
in carrying out the following tasks. If assistance is needed refer to local CompAir company, distributor
or CompAir UK Ltd.
A condition of Warranty is that the user must keep the compressor and auxiliary equipment properly
maintained and adjusted, and performs checks and services in the Schedule attached. An accurate
record of this work must be kept.
The importance of routine maintenance and regular servicing cannot be over-emphasised.
10.1.2-Cleanliness
Keep the compressor clean at all times. Clean up any silt oil immediately and make regular
inspections for signs of damage and security of fittings.
10.1.3-Recording Pressures and Temperatures
Maintain a daily record of operating pressures and temperatures, including the ambient temperature.
Take the readings when conditions are stable and with the compressor on full load. For compressors
in continuous operation the readings should be taken at the same time each day.
The record will ensure that any variation from "normal" will be noticeable.
10.1.4-Maintenance
Record
Keep a record of servicing, maintenance and repair work carried out. This will form a useful reference
and help recognise any persistent repair.
10.1.5-Pressure
Settings
Pressure switch and temperature settings can drift with time and will require periodic adjustment.
Maintain all pressure switch settings and adjustments correctly to prevent faults which could reduce
efficiency.
10.1.6-Electrical
connections
Lethal voltages are used, use extreme caution
Compressors with special equipment may have complex electrical systems and the user is advised to
follow the manufactures instructions for such equipment when carrying out servicing work.
Do not run compressor with loose or frayed wiring. refit wires and cables with care, keep connections
clean and protect them from possible danger through chafing or heat.
10.1.7-Leaks
Inspect the compressor as a matter of routine for any sign of loose pipes, connections, build-up of dirt
or oil leaks. Replace any damaged pipes.
10.1.8-Oil
changes
When changing oil always drain off the spent oil completely and ensure all traces are removed. Clean
all fittings, plugs, etc. before refitting
