Bus Distribution
The I/O board in the ProLiant 8500 uses two 33-MHz PCI buses and one 66-
MHz bus. The following figure and table identifies the PCI expansion slots
associated with each of the three PCI buses. Bus balancing is not required.

Adding Expansion Boards
Non-Hot Plug Expansion Boards
You can use non-hot plug expansion boards in the ProLiant 8500 server, but
you must install them according to the following procedure.
1.
Back up your server data.
2.
Shut down the operating system in an orderly manner as directed in your
operating system instructions.
