Remove the Processor and Memory module, Media Module, and
power supplies to lighten the chassis.
7.
Verify switch settings: bus/core frequency switches and system
configuration switch. Refer to the Compaq ProLiant 8500 Hardware
Installation and Configuration poster included in the shipping box or to
the hood labels on the top access panel and on the sides of the Processor
and Memory Module.
8.
Install the chassis in the rack and replace the modules and power
supplies.
9.
Connect the cables: keyboard, mouse, monitor, network, storage,
and power. See “Cabling the Server” later in this chapter.
10.
Turn on the computer and insert the SmartStart and Support
Software CD to configure the server. To load the CD, see Chapter 6,
“Server Configuration.” For the SmartStart and Support Software CD
installation procedures, refer to the Server Setup and Management pack
shipped with your server.
11.
Install Compaq Insight Manager to manage the server. For the
Compaq Management CD installation procedures, refer to the Server
Setup and Management pack shipped with your server.
12.
Register the server. For server registration information, refer to the
Server Setup and Management pack shipped with your server.

When installing your ProLiant 8500 in a rack, the following standards must be
