Installing the Cache Accelerator
The cache accelerator is an option is required for five or more processors. The
cache accelerator option should not be used for less than five processors. The
following paragraphs provide guidelines on determining which configuration
is best for your system.
ProLiant 8500 servers have two processor buses. In the following figure,

Processors should be added to fill bus 1 before adding processors to bus 2. If
processors occupy slots of both processor buses, then the Cache Accelerators
for both buses must be installed for proper operation.
To install the cache accelerator in the Processor and Memory module, refer to
one of the following installation sources:

For a text and illustrated procedure, refer to the documentation provided
with the option kit.

For an overview of the installation, see the procedure below.
1.
If the server is on, place it in Standby and disconnect the power cord(s).
See Chapter 2, “Server Installation.”

Remove the Processor and Memory module. See Chapter 3, “Server
Operation.”
