SmartStart Manual-Path Installation
for Windows 2000
The manual-path installation method requires these steps:

Create the Compaq Support Software for Microsoft Windows 2000
■
Install the Windows 2000 operating system
For more information on device drivers, run the
README.BAT
file in the root
directory of the Software and Support CD for Windows 2000 to read the
WinHelp file

NOTE:
Fibre Channel array controllers are not eligible as boot devices.
SmartStart Manual Installation for
Windows 2000
1.
Place the SmartStart CD into the CD-ROM drive and power up the
server.
2.
Insert the Microsoft Windows 2000 software CD when prompted.
3.
At the first screen you see during startup, press the F6 key to enter
manual mode. You have only a few seconds to press the F6 key before
the installation process continues.
4.
When prompted, choose to create a new partition with at least 2 GB of
free space.
5.
Select Microsoft Windows 2000 install, either Server or Advanced
Server options. Refer to your user license for additional information.
6.
Install device drivers from the diskette when prompted.
7.
Follow the directions on screen to install and configure Windows 2000
for your server.
8.
Restart your server when prompted.
Installation of Microsoft Windows 2000 is now complete.
