Figure 4-13. Attaching rack-mounting handles to the server
Installing the Server in the Rack
When the handles are securely in place, prepare to install the server in the
rack.
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to the equipment, a
minimum of two people
MUST
lift the server into the rack. The server may
weigh up to 81 lb (37 kg). If the unit will be loaded at a height above chest level,
a third person
MUST
align the rails while the other two support the unit.
IMPORTANT:
To reduce the weight of the server and make it more manageable, do not
install drives until you have loaded the server into the rack.
1.
Pull the slide rails forward from the mounting brackets to the fully
extended position.
2.
Set the rack handles on the extended slide rails.
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to the equipment, a
minimum of two people must lift the server onto the slide rails. A
Compaq ProLiant DL580 server can weigh up to 81 lb (37 kg).
3.
Align the server screw holes with the slide-rail screw holes.
