Chapter 8: Search & Playback
Index Search Panel
The Index Search Panel lets you search for recordings or snapshots that capture any past events. Using the
Index Search Panel, not only can you perform a search for event recordings and snapshots by channle, event
type, or time range, but you also can browse the thumbnails of the retrieved recordings and snapshots, which
helps you instantly locate the record of interest. To bring up the Index Search Panel, click on the Index icon (
) in the system panel. Then the following panel will be displayed.

In this panel, you can specify your search criteria to search for a particular video clip. To do so:
1. First specify the channel number and event type in the "Channel" and "Filter" section.
2. If preferred, define a time range to search by checking the "Enable" option in the "Date & Time" section
and then put in the start/end date/time.
3. Scroll down on the left and push the Go ( ) button. After that, the available recordings and snapshots
will appear in the result list as well as in thumbnails.
For any given thumbnail in this panel, a number in the upper-left corner indicates the channel on which this
recording is found; a green triangular indicates this item is a video clip, instead of an event snapshot, and can
be instantly played back with a double-click.
Lock/Unlock Thumbnails
You can choose whether to update the search results in real time based on current search criteria by using
the Lock/Unlock ( ) icon in the upper-right corner. Whenever ComproView® is monitoring and recording
videos while you are browsing the thumbnails, the new recordings and snapshots that match your current
search criteria will be updated into the result pane dynamically. Sometimes the new items can appear
in between the thumbnails you are inspecting and re-arrange the sequence of thumbnails. If this is not
preferred, you can click on the pin icon ( ) to lock the result pane, which will then be bordered in red, to
disable the real-time update.
Allow/Disallow Snapshots and Recordings
You can control whether snapshots and recordings can be created and queried in the Index Search Panel
when ComproView® detects an event on a particular camera channel.
To allow snapshots to be queried in the Index Search Panel, enter the system configuration console and
then go to the Camera tab. And choose a camera channel and check the "Display" checkbox in the Device
section. (This option controls whether to decode the video streamed from your camera; taking snapshots
requires ComproView® to decode the video first.) To allow recordings to be queried in the Index Search
