The HE4000 is a rugged, compact Audio & Video encoding System designed for a wide variety of
applications. The small size and multitude of applications make this a perfect encoder for portable
applications while providing a host of features suitable for the most demanding distribution and
laboratory uses. The HE4000 encoding system can be purchased in a variety of configurations.
The HE4000 can be configured as anything from an entry level 4:2:0 standard definition encoder
to the highest end High Definition Studio or laboratory encoder or anything in between. The
unique anything to anything encoding approach allows for your HE4000 system to be customized
to your particular requirements.
High and Standard definition Video encoding is provided as well as audio encoding support for all
common audio encoding formats. These include but are not limited to:

Digital Cinema
A push button front panel with an illuminated LCD and bright LED indicators provides control and
system status. The front panel video and audio confidence monitors provide real time monitoring.
The optional integrated DVB®, QPSK, 8PSK, 16QAM satellite modulator is controlled by one-
touch buttons for carrier on/off and modulation. Additionally, remote control is available using the
embedded Web Browser Interface, RS232 proprietary command line, proprietary command line
over Telenet or SNMP. The HE4000’s rugged chassis is a 2U high (9 cm) or 1 RU high (4.45
cm), 19” width rack-mount unit providing full rear panel cabling. The main power switch is
conveniently located on the front panel.
1.0 Features
The HE4000 consists of the following standard feature set:

Advanced video compression chip-set which encodes the input video following either
4:2:0 Main Profile @ Mail Level or optional 4:2:2 Studio Profile @ Main Level standards.
•
Standard and (simultaneous or individual) High Definition Encoding – including up and
down converting functionality.
•
PurePEG HD Technology for improved picture quality – especially at lower bit rates.
•
A high-quality horizontal decimation filter for intermediate horizontal resolutions.
•
Supports compressed audio rates of 64 to 384 Kbps and four different audio channel
compression methods.
•
MPEG, Dolby® AC-3 2.0, Dolby® E/uncompressed supported via SMPTE 302M, AC-3
5.1 (externally coded) coding.
•
Accepts two high-speed, independently programmable auxiliary data channels.
•
Automatic configuration of video and audio rates to match the available transmission
bandwidth for optimum performance.
•
Dedicated modulator control buttons are provided on the front panel for one-touch control.
