• An inclination of approx. 30°, but no less than 15°, is perfect for good self-clean-
ing properties concerning leaves, dirt, snow and bird droppings.
• Keep the solar module away from protrusions and balconies
• Avoid shadows cast by trees and buildings
☞
The most frequent sources of shadow are:
- Chimneys, vent connections
- Trees (observe future growth)
- Skylight protrusions
- Observe the construction for the solar module holder. It must
not cast any shadow onto the solar module.
9. Solar Module Alignment and Inclination
For the solar module to operate at peak capacity, we recommend that you learn
about suitable alignment and inclination.
Best alignment (and thus best capacity) is achieved when sunlight meets the solar
module surface at a right angle.
☞
Best alignment depends on the site (latitude) and the desired
purpose.
Within Germany, deviations are small.
However, there are large differences between Norway and Italy.
Principally, the following rule applies: The farther South you
are, the higher the yield of horizontal surfaces.
In Berlin, a surface inclined by 30° and facing South will have
the highest radiation over the year, which generates about 100%
of the yield possible for this latitude.
