Amorphous solar panel
Version 02/12
Item no. 11 06 05
TPS-103 2W/6V
Intended use
1.
This polycrystalline solar module converts the radiant energy contained in light (usually sunlight) into electrical
energy. The product is especially suitable for charging batteries. To connect the product to a battery, a cable
with terminal posts is included.
For safety and approval purposes (CE), you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use the product
for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. In addition, improper use can
cause hazards such as short circuiting, fire, electric shock etc. Read the instructions carefully and keep them.
Make this product available to third parties only together with its operating instructions.

Safety instructions
3.
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety information.
If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on proper handling in this
manual, we assume no liability for any resulting personal injury or damage to property.
Such cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
Persons / Product
The solar panel generates power as soon as it is exposed to light. A single module generates power below
•
the so-called low voltage barrier. However, multiple modules in parallel (summation of currents) or series
connection (summation of voltages) represent a potential risk. However, always consider the following
notes to avoid electrical shock, spark formation and fire:
solar panel(s) or the cables connected to it/them must never be installed with damp or wet plugs or
-
sockets.
Never touch the connection leads or connection terminals with wet or damphands.
-
Never use damaged solar panels; never dismantle solar panels. Do not remove type labels attached
-
by the manufacturer.
Ensure that there is a dry environment during installation and connection.
-
The solar module’s performance can vary depending on weather conditions. Keep this in mind when
•
operating a device with this product.
Always ensure correct polarity when connecting a battery.
•
Avoid direct contact with the surface. The surface is sensitive and can be easily scratched or destroyed
•
through contamination.
Solar modules may only be used in a temperate climate. The solar module is a device which is not secured
•
against explosions. Thus, it may not be installed in the vicinity of highly inflammable gases and vapours.
The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
•
Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. These may become dangerous playing material
•
for children.
Protect the product from extreme temperatures, strong jolts, high humidity, moisture, flammable gases,
•
vapours and solvents.
Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
•
If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it from any
•
accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
is visibly damaged,
-
is no longer working properly,
-
has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
-
has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
-
Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage the
•
product.
Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are connected to the
•
product.
Miscellaneous
Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of the device.
•
Maintenance, modifications and repairs are to be performed exclusively by an expert or at a qualified
•
shop.
If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our technical
•
support service or other technical personnel.
Operation
4.
Position the solar module in a sunny spot. To achieve optimal utilization of the solar module, we recommend
1.
you obtain more information on suitable positioning and the suitable tilting angle. Optimal positioning (and
thus an optimal utilization rate) is achieved when the sun rays fall perpendicularly onto the solar module.
If you want to mount the solar module, it has to be securely fastened at a minimum of four points. The frame
2.
is suitable for attachment on the broadsides. The required bore holes have to be drilled by the user.
Ensure that no shadows are cast over it, caused by trees or buildings, for example.
3.
Connect the solar module to the battery: Connect the terminal posts to the terminals of the battery. Observe
4.
the correct polarity.
After use, disconnect the solar module from the battery. Disconnect the adaptor from the solar module.
5.
Cleaning
5.
Regularly clean the solar module, as its performance would otherwise decrease and the
surface could be irreversibly damaged.
To clean the surface, use a soft, antistatic and dry brush.
•
Under no circumstances use aggressive cleaning agents such as glass cleaners or chemical solutions to
•
clean the solar module, as the surface may otherwise be damaged.
Disposal
6.
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory regulations.
Remove any inserted (rechargeable) batteries and dispose of them separately from the product.
