Retrieve data from PBB
To retrieve the stored data the PBB has to be connected to a PC (laptop) via a network
cable (LAN). The PBB has IP address 10.2.1.160 and the connected PC shall have a
network address that belongs to the same network (e.g. 10.2.1.222). Please refer to
Investigative Authority Guide for instruction how to change IP address of a PC.
Access data storage
VDR data stored in the PBB can be accessed via FTP (ftp:// 10.2.1.160/vdrdata). User
name: ‘vdr’; password: ‘vdr’.
In both cases user ‘vdr’ has a read-only access to the PBB.
Retrieve desired data
After the connection to PBB’s data storage is established data can be transferred from
the PBB to a destination location (copied to a local hard disk). Data storage structure
facilitates the locating of the relevant data.
Data is stored divided into 6-hour portions starting from time 00:00 (00:00-05:59,
06:00-11.59, 12:00-17.59, 18:00-23:59). Each portion is stored in a separate directory
named according to the time of its creation: YYMMDD-HHMM (e.g. 070320-0000,
070320-0600 etc.).
A new directory is also created when PBB or VDR is restarted (so directories with
arbitrary time in the names are possible: e.g. 070320-1739 followed by 070320-1800).
4.7.2.4
Playback of the retrieved data
After the data is transferred it can be used either for backup (e.g. to a CD/DVD) or for
playback and analysis using the voyage data player. The player can work with one 6-
hour data portion at a time. See Professional Player Guide for Player instructions.
Note!
Always copy the recorded VDR files to your local hard drive before running the
Player. Never run the Player directly from the USB stick.
