Scanner maintenance problems
Problem
Possible causes and remedy
Error message: Stitching failed
Stitching maintenance error messages
•
Dirty or smudged glass plate - Clean the scanning area, reboot the scanner and then complete the calibration steps as
described in the section

Loose object in the optical path - Remove any torn pieces of paper or other loose objects from the scanning area. Note
that even very small loose objects can disrupt scanner calibration triggering an error
Call your technical service provider if the problem persists
Scanner will not connect or cannot be
operated after a failed firmware
upgrade
The scanner will boot into safe mode automatically allowing firmware re-installation when corrupted firmware is detected. A
power failure may cause a firmware upgrade to fail.

Confirm safe mode by confirming
‘Scanner is in Safe Mode’ message in WIDEsystem

Follow the steps for installing firmware
NOTE
: Safe Mode is for repairing a corrupted or interrupted firmware installation. Do not attempt to use the scanner in
Safe Mode.
