IOF-550 Permold Series Engine Maintenance Manual
1 April 2007
RESULT: Both the FADEC CAUTION and FADEC WARN lamps are ON.
12.
BPMS...................................................................AUTO
13.
Ignition Switch.....................................................L
RESULT: Boost pump actuation increases fuel pressure.
14.
BPMS...................................................................OFF
15.
Start the engine (“Engine Start” instructions in OI-24, Chapter 7).
NOTE: If a small puff of smoke is emitted from the engine
immediately upon engine start-up, there may have been a small
amount of preservation oil remaining in the cylinders, induction
system, and/or fuel nozzles/lines. The smoke should quickly
dissipate; if smoke persists, shut down the engine (“Engine
Shutdown” in OI-24, Chapter 7) and investigate the cause.
16.
Check the HSA panel for persistent annunciator lamp illuminations. If a lamp is lit,
address the cause.
CAUTION: Operating the engine without oil pressure will result in
engine malfunction or stoppage.
17.
Check the oil pressure. If no oil pressure is noted, shut down the engine and
investigate the cause.
18.
Operate the engine at 750 RPM (idle speed) for 1 minute, gradually increasing the
speed to 1000 RPM in 3 minutes. If the engine will not idle at the proper speed
(RPM), refer to “Fuel System Adjustment” in Chapter 9.
19.
Fuel Selector ........................................................Fullest tank or BOTH
WARNING
Do not operate the engine at speeds above 1700 RPM until the
oil temperature is at least 75
°
F (24
°
C) and the oil pressure is
within the normal operating range. Operating at speeds above
1700 RPM before reaching the minimum oil temperature may
result in engine malfunction or engine failure.
20.
Throttle.................................................................1700 RPM
RESULTS: Alternator output is equal to or greater than the electrical system’s rated
output according to the AFM/POH. FADEC CAUTION and WARN lamps are OFF.
WARNING
If an RPM drop occurs during the FADEC Primary and
Secondary Power Transfer check, determine the fault and
repair before flight. *Review the section “Primary and
Secondary Power Settings” in OI-24 Chapter 7, FADEC
Engine Operation.
