NOTE: An operational check must be performed prior to and after
engine inspection, maintenance or overhaul activities. Refer to the
“Operational Performance Checks” in Chapter 6 of this manual.
If operating hours and a calendar period are specified, perform the
inspection coincident with the earliest occurrence.

7-3.1. Drive Belt Tension Inspection
Check the tension of new drive belts after five hours of operation. Adjust, as required, to
maintain 50 to 70 pounds of tension. Refer to “Drive Belt Tension Adjustment” in
Chapter 9, “Maintenance and Adjustments.”
7-3.2. 25-Hour Initial Operation Inspection
Frequency
•
Twenty-five (25) hours or six months (whichever occurs first) after:
•
A new, rebuilt or overhauled engine is placed in service.
•
One or more new engine cylinders and/or piston rings have been replaced.
•
After every 25 hours of operation until oil consumption has stabilized.
