Cylinder Inspections
A complete cylinder inspection entails the tasks described in respective sections in this
manual referenced in Table 7-2 below. Performing all of the tasks in the table below
ensures that items that can affect cylinder operation have been inspected and verified for

Remove the engine compartment cowling and perform steps 2 and 3 without cleaning
the engine.
Use an inspection light and mirror, inspect the cylinder barrel and fins power stroke
areas for cracks, sharp indentations, chafing damage and pitting
discrepancies according to Chapter 9, “Overhaul Inspection and Repair” in the TCM
Overhaul Manual (OH-24). The power stroke areas include the:
