10-7.5. Oil Pressure Relief Valve Repair and Replacement
Procedure
1.
Disconnect engine electrical power; turn the Ignition Switch to the OFF position.
WARNING
If all power is not disconnected, a loose or broken wire could
allow the engine to start and the propeller to rotate. Do not
stand or place equipment within the arc of the propeller.
2.
Cut, remove, and discard the safety wire from the oil pressure relief valve housing
located at the rear of the engine (Figure 10-52).
3.
Unscrew and remove the oil pressure relief valve located at the rear of the engine
(Figure 10-52).

4.
Inspect the oil pressure relief valve plunger (Figure 10-53) and valve seat face in the
oil pump housing (Figure 10-54) for scoring, nicks, and rough spots.
5.
Check the for the oil pressure relief valve service limits listed in 10-7.7. If the valve
has exceeded its service limits, replace the valve.
6.
If the plunger has scoring, nicks, or roughening, replace the plunger on the oil
pressure relief valve.
