1. Description
The Weller WFE 10 soldering fume extraction device is equipped with a highly powerful,
maintenance-free turbine and is therefore best suited to continuous industrial operation.
The turbine is designed to be capable of extracting the soldering fumes from
approximately 10 Weller Fume Extraction soldering bits in the form of direct removal
by suction at the soldering bit. Alternatively, the WFE 10 can also be used as a worktop
extraction device for soldering fumes or adhesive vapours. Combined use is, however,
not possible.
The vacuum hoses of the soldering bits can be connected to the WFE 10 directly or via
a DN40 vacuum tube system which is incapable of electrostatic charging.
The 4-stage filter installed (expanded metal condensation filter, fine particulate air filter,
submicron particulate air filter and wide band gas filter) is assembled in modular form
and in this configuration is ideally suited for the extraction of soldering fumes. With the
use of homologated Class S submicron particulate air filters, on delivery the filtration
efficiency of the filter assembly is 99.99% in accordance with DIN 24184, where particle
size is 0.3µm. These figures are only achieved by the use of original spare parts.
When it is necessary to change a filter, this is indicated by a differential pressure
measurement device in the unit and by a running time meter. The process is considerably
simplified by the modular method of construction. If the level of contamination of the
filter system as set by the differential pressure measurement device is exceeded, the
unit automatically cuts out. Once the required change of filter has been carried out, the
unit can be re-activated by operating the reset button when the unit is switched on. A
red and a green control light signal the prevailing operating status. Various fluxes, flux
fractions and different types of dust fractions in the extracted air can significantly affect
the service life of the filter stages.
Warning: When using extraction equipment the legal limits with regard to
contaminants in the workplace should be observed and regularly checked by the
operator of the extraction device.

2. Commissioning
Direct connection of the FE soldering bits
The Weller WFE 10 soldering fume extraction device is equipped for the direct connection
of a maximum of 5 Weller FE soldering bits. To connect the vacuum hoses the locking
caps are removed and the hoses placed directly on the attachment nipples (11). The
length of the vacuum hose of the FE soldering bit is 2.5m. For soldering locations
which are further away (up to 5m) the DN17 extension hose, available as an accessory,
can be used. For this, DN17 attachment nipples must be fitted on the unit and at the
end of the hose.
Indirect connection via the DN40 vacuum tube system (available as an
accessory)
During indirect operation, the Weller WFE 10 is linked via an NW44 flexible extraction
hose to the DN40 vacuum tube system. The unit's 5 attachment nipples (11) remain
locked using the locking caps, and the sealing plug (10) for the tube system is removed.
To connect the FE bits, the vacuum tube system is drilled in at the desired position with
a 7.0 mm f, the attachment nipple screwed in and the vacuum hose attached.
Before commissioning, check the mains voltage against the information on the type
plate. If the mains voltage is correct, connect the WFE 10 to the mains (2) and switch
the unit on at the mains switch (5). The green light (4) "Filter OK" will light up and
indicate that the filter assembly is intact.
Maintenance
Before maintenance work is undertaken, the unit must be disconnected from the mains
by pulling out the mains plug.
The WELLER WFE 10 is equipped with a differential pressure measurement device
designed to monitor the condition of the dust filters. When the red light "Change filter"
comes on (3), the unit switches off and the particulate filter system must be checked.
After the filter has been replaced, the reset button (8) in the operating element must be
