Antenna Installation Guidelines

When installing the antenna for the RADIO-900M, refer to the Installation Instructions provided
with the specific antenna in use and the type of mount to be used.

In addition, the following guidelines should be considered:

Connections between the antenna and coaxial cable should be properly taped to prevent
ingress of moisture.

Where antennas are mounted on elevated masts, the masts should be effectively earthed to
avoid lightning surges.

Refer to Section 9 for the Surge Protection Device installation instructions.

The RADIO-900M has two antenna connections at the top of the module, allowing two
antennas to be fitted to the unit. The left connector (looking at the front) labeled “RX” is
connected only to the internal wireless receiver. The right connector labeled TX/RX is
connected to both the transmitter and receiver. When only one antenna is used, it must be
connected to the TX/RX connector.

An RF Path Link Budget must be calculated by a qualified technician prior to
defining the following:

Location of the RADIO-900M

Antenna type and location

Length of cable run(s)  and type of cable to be used

FCC WARNINGS

1.  Modifications are not allowed to the RADIO-900M or support equipment.

2.  Any modification to the RADIO-900M or the antenna

could void the User’s

authority to operate the equipment.

3.  Antenna placement must be no less than 1 meter from any potential point of

human contact or exposure.

4.  Unlicensed operation limits the radio power. High gain aerials may only be

used to compensate for cable losses.

7. Installation into the IPC-8000

The RADIO-900M is designed to be installed in the IPC-8000.  The installation is outlined below.

Refer to

  Figure 2

and Figure 3 while installing the RADIO-900M into the IPC-8000.  Use the

appropriate hardware provided when mounting brackets and devices.

1.

Mount the DIN Rail Bracket

to the left wall inside the IPC-8000 enclosure using the

hardware provided.

2.

Mount the RF Connector Bracket

to the left wall inside the IPC-8000 enclosure.

3.

Insert the RF Cable

into the RF Connector and tighten.

4.

Attach the RADIO-900M

to the DIN Rail using the mounting clips on the back of the unit.
