up the M 3 screw s to hold the m otor firm ly in place. Please note that there are tw o types of gears
available for Corally cars. One is 48 dp w hich offers good efficiency and great durability, w hilst for
the serious racer there are 64 dp gears w hich have a m uch sm aller tooth form and so offer greater
efficiency at the expense of durability.
M ounting the bodyshell and w ings.
It is recom m ended that you use a lexan / polycarbonate bodyshell (not included) as they are
lightw eight and strong. See the set-up section later in this m anual for advice on bodyshell selection
and other aerodynam ic considerations. It is advised that you m ark the outside of the bodyshell w ith
bodypost and aerial positions, before you spray paint it on the inside. The Corally body m ounting
posts fitted to the car are fully adjustable. The bodypost screw s are fitted w ith sleeves w hich have
been designed to allow the bodyshell to float a little. This design helps in the event of a crash or
w hen the bodyshell is accidentally run too low .
Final checks.
BEFORE RUNNING YOUR CORALLY CAR, CHECK ALL SCREW S ARE TIGHTENED READY FOR RACE
CONDITIONS. The cars are pre-assem bled w ith autom atic tools w ith a low torque setting, so that you
can undo them in the future.
M AINTENANCE AND SETUP TIPS.
Tw eak (left to right balance of the car).
One of the m ost im portant factors w hen racing an R/C on-road car is tw eak'
. If a car is tw eaked
then the car w ill turn differently in left and right hand bends. Purposely tw eaking a car m ay be
advantageous w hen oval racing, but generally it is best if the car handles exactly the sam e in both
left and right hand turns.
A car becom es tw eaked w hen the grip or w eight is not balanced betw een left and right hand w heels.
This m ay occur in several w ays.
- The chassis assem bly could be tw isted, this is no longer com m on in m odern cars, but should be
checked after m ajor crashes.
- The tires on each side of the car could be different sizes. The outside tire generally w ears m ore
quickly than the inside tire. To prevent problem s sw ap the tires from left to right hand sides after
every couple of races. Or use a tire truer if available.
- The suspension or ride height m ay not be set the sam e on each side of the car. Check springs,
tw eak adjuster settings and ride height settings.
- Steering m ovem ent m ay be different on left and right sides.
- Tires m ay be giving different grip levels. Check and replace any that seem to have different
firm ness on the left or right.
- W hen using tire additive it is possible to tw eak the car by accidentally applying different am ounts
of additive to each tire be careful!
- Finally its possible for the car to feel tw eaked if the suspension does not m ove freely. Check that
the pow er w ires to the m otor do not restrict the rear suspension m ovem ent and check that all ball
joints m ove freely.
