7.3 Rip cutting
Use the correct working procedures:
• Stand well-balanced in front of the saw.
• Do not stand in line with the saw blade in case it should break and fly straight at you.
• Use a push stick if one is needed.
Note:
• Remove the mitre guide from the table before starting to rip saw.
• Use extension tables or supports when sawing long workpieces.
The support should be at the same height as the saw table. Get an
assistant to help you if necessary.
1. Adjust the cutting depth so that it is slightly more than the thickness of the
workpiece. (Se 9.4 Adjusting the cutting depth)
2. Adjust the position of the rip fence and tighten the locking knobs (47)
and (48) and the holder (45).
3. Start the motor and feed the workpiece along the rip fence and past the
saw blade.
4. If the workpiece is wider than 150 mm two hands should be used, one
to keep the workpiece pressed against the rip fence and the other to
feed the workpiece forwards.
5. If the workpiece is between 65 and 150 mm wide, a push stick (79)
should be used to feed the workpiece forward whilst holding it against
the rip fence with the other hand.
6. If the workpiece is narrower than 65 mm, a sawing block (80) (not
included) should be used otherwise the push stick could catch on the
blade guard. Secure the sawing block using clamps. Start by feeding
the workpiece into the blade by hand until the end is just over the edge
of the table, then continue feeding the workpiece using a push stick and
holding the workpiece down with another push stick.
7.4 Using the mitre guide
Note:
• Remove the rip fence before using the mitre guide.
• Use extension tables or supports when sawing long workpieces. The support should be at the same
height as the saw table. Get an assistant to help you if necessary.
• Keep hands and fingers away from the saw blade.
Mitre guide:
The mitre guide can be used in four different ways.
Warning!
• Make sure that the mitre guide locking knob is securely fastened.
• Do not exert so much pressure on the mitre guide that the angle is altered whilst cutting.
• Never hold onto the offcut or try to catch it as it falls away from the workpiece. Be aware
of what you are doing, consider the dangers.
Using the mitre guide
Slide the mitre guide into one of the tracks (59) in the table. Undo the locking knob (86) and set the desired
angle (0° to 60°). Place the workpiece against the mitre guide and move it slowly into the saw blade.
