ENGINE
Maintenance, repair, or replacement of the emission con-
trol devices and systems, which are being done at the
cus tom ers expense, may be performed by any non-road
engine repair establishment or individual. Warranty repairs
must be performed by an authorized engine man u fac tur er's
service outlet.
TO AD
JUST THROTTLE CON TROL CABLE
(See Fig. 30)
The throttle control has been preset at the factory and
ad just ment should not be necessary. Check adjustment
as described below before loosening cable. If adjustment
is necessary, proceed as follows:
• With engine not running, move throttle control lever to
fast position.
• Check that swivel is against stop. If it is not, loosen
cable clamp screw and pull cable back until swivel is
against stop. Tighten cable clamp screw securely.
TO REMOVE HOOD AND GRILL ASSEMBLY
(See Fig. 29)
• Raise hood.
• Unsnap headlight wire connector.
• Stand in front of tractor. Grasp hood at sides, tilt toward
engine and lift off of tractor.
• To replace, reverse above procedure.

TO AD JUST CHOKE CON TROL (See Fig. 31)
The choke control has been preset at the factory and ad-
just ment should not be necessary. Check adjustment as
described below before loosening cable. If adjustment is
necessary, proceed as follows:
• With engine not running, move choke control (located
on dash panel) to full choke position.
• Loosen knob and remove cover assembly from air
cleaner.
• Choke should be closed. If it is not, loosen casing clamp
screw and move choke cable until choke is completely
closed. Tighten casing clamp screw se curely.
• Replace air cleaner cover assembly and tighten
knob.
TO ADJUST CARBURETOR
Your carburetor is not adjustable. If your engine does not
operate properly due to suspected carburetor problems,
take your tractor to an authorized service center for repair
and/or adjustment.
High speed stop is factory ad just ed. Do not adjust - dam-
age may result.
IMPORTANT:
NEVER TAMPER WITH THE ENGINE GOVERNOR,
WHICH IS FACTORY SET FOR PROPER ENGINE SPEED.
OVER SPEED ING THE ENGINE ABOVE THE FACTORY HIGH
SPEED SETTING CAN BE DANGEROUS. IF YOU THINK THE
ENGINE-GOVERNED HIGH SPEED NEEDS ADJUSTING,
CONTACT YOUR NEAREST AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER/
DEPARTMENT, WHICH HAS PROPER EQUIP
MENT AND
EX PE RI ENCE TO MAKE ANY NEC ES SARY ADJUSTMENTS.
TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULB
• Raise hood.
• Pull bulb holder out of the hole in the backside of the
grill.
• Replace bulb in holder and push bulb holder securely
back into the hole in the backside of the grill.
• Close hood.
INTERLOCKS AND RELAYS
Loose or damaged wiring may cause your tractor to run
poorly, stop running, or prevent it from starting.
• Check wiring. See electrical wiring diagram in the Repair
Parts section.
TO REPLACE FUSE
Replace with 20 amp automotive-type plug-in fuse. The
fuse holder is located behind the dash.
