Lack of power
Throttle not fully open.
Contaminated fuel.

Erratic engine speed
Pinched or clogged fuel lines or tank
vent line.
Contaminated fuel.

Engine overheats
Engine cooling water seacock
closed or water pick-up is blocked.
Leaking or pinched water lines.
Open seacock or remove obstruction.
Repair or replace water lines. See Cruisers Yachts Dealer for
service.
Transmission shift hard
Corroded or pinched linkage.
Replace or lubricate linkage as necessary. See Cruisers Yachts
Dealer for service.
Excessive vibration
Note: Some vibration is normal due
to engine and propeller action.
Foreign objects obstructing the
propeller.
Bent propeller or shaft.
Engine and shaft are misaligned.
Engine or transmission components
touching a brace or some part of the
hull.
Flexible shaft log “whip” is excessive
and strikes the shaft hole.
Engine not timed properly or
misfiring.
Bent rudder.
Remove objects from propeller, shaft or rudder by reversing
propeller or cutting and pulling away obstruction.
Replace propeller or shaft as necessary. Make sure propeller is
not pulled off shaft center by the propeller key. See
Section 8
.
Check engine and shaft alignment. Alignment must be within 0.003
inch (0.08 mm). See
Section 8
.
Check engine mounts and components for proper alignment. See
Section 8
.
Check shaft log for wear and avoid sudden torque changes. See
Cruiser Yachts Dealer for service.
Engine requires a tune-up. See Cruisers Yachts Dealer for service.
