1.6 Applications / Capabilities
In
the
following
example,
the
Fiber Multiplexer
utilizes
an
optical
fiber
connection
between
a
pair
of
units
to
provide
8
or
16
channels
of
E1,
T1,
and
1
to
4
ports
of
Trunk
Ethernet
between
the
units.
The
timing
scheme
for
typical
E1
or
T1
equipment
is
to
transparently
pass
timing
from
a
timing
source
unit
on
one
side,
to
a
timing
slaved
unit
on
the
other.
Each
of
the
up
to
16
available
channels
of
the
Fiber Multiplexer
is
independent
of
any
other
channel
for
framing
or
timing.
