5.6 SNMP Upgrade via TFTP
To
upgrade
the
SNMP
firmware,
configure
a
TFTP
server
on
your
network.
Configuring
a
TFTP
server
is
beyond
the
scope
of
this
document.
However,
in
the
upgrade
package
there
should
be
a
free,
open
source,
portable
(no
installation
required),
TFTP
daemon
for
Windows.
Place
the
upgrade
binary
file
in
the
same
folder
as
the
TFTP
server
and
set
the
IP
address
and
image
filenames
in
the
SNMP
agent.
Refer
to
4.3.3
for
configuring
the
SNMP
card
for
TCP/IP.
Firmware
is
broken
into
two
images,
the
'kernel'
and
the
'filesystem'.
The
kernel
(kernel.gz)
is
the
Linux
OS
and
is
rarely,
if
ever,
updated.
The
'filesystem'
(romfs.gz)
contains
most
of
the
operation
programming
supporting
the
SNMP
and
web
provisioning
for
the
Fiber
Multiplexer
.
This
may
require
updating
when
new
features
are
added
or
if
bugs
are
found
and
need
fixing.
For
any
TCP/IP
changes
to
be
remembered
in
the
agent,
please
click
the
"
Save
Parameters
"
button
and
then
click
"
Reboot
".
TFTP
Server
IP
‐
The
IP
address
of
the
server

There
must
be
a
reliable
TCP/IP

between
the
TFTP
Server
and
the
Fiber
Multiplexer
's
SNMP
agent.
Kernel
Filename
‐
This
is
the
filename
of
the
kernel
image
which
must
be
on
the
TFTP
server.
File
‐
System
Filename
‐
This
is
the
filename
of
the
filesystem
which
must
be
on
the
TFTP
server.
