Table 1.11 summarizes these connectors, providing a brief description and an indication of
what functions/interfaces are supported by each.
Table 1.11:
Summary of CHAMP-AV8 Connectors, Functions Supported
Connector
Designation
Description
Supported I/O Configurations
J1
26-pin front panel
connector
(VPX6-462-A version
CHAMP-AV8 only)
The J1 connector provides two serial interfaces, one to each processor node, desig-
nated A0 and B0. The J1 connector also provides two GigE interfaces, one to each
processor node, designated Ethernet A and Ethernet B. The connector also provides
one USB port (USB_A1) to the node A processor and supports a reset signal which
when asserted resets the entire card.
J14, J15, J16
Connectors for PMC
I/O on XMC module
site, compliant with
IEEE P1386 and
XMC module site.
The J14 connector used for interconnection with PMC user I/O signals on an optional
XMC module. All 64 PMC user I/O signals are accessible via the base board P3 con-
nector.
The J15 connector is the primary XMC connector as defined in VITA 42.0 and the J16
connector is mapped to XMC I/O and mapped to the base board P5 and P6 connec-
tors.
P0
VITA 46 P0 Utility
Connector
Provides power and ground connectors to the chassis backplane as well as
Geographical Addressing, Differential reference clock, system reset, JTAG and Aux
Clk signals.
P1
VITA 46 P1 SRIO
Fabric Connector
High Speed Serial RapidIO interconnect as well as various VITA 46 and AV8 reserved
and system signals: SYSCON_L, CARD_FAIL_L, CF_ALT_BOOT_L, PB_RESET_L
CARD_FAIL_L, PB_RESET_L, GDiscrete1
P2
VITA 46 P2 PCIe
Expansion Connec-
tor
Provides two PCIe interfaces on the expansion plane and includes support
for one eight-lane port and an optional 4-lane/8-lane PCIe port (build-time option).
P3
VITA 46 P3 XMC
Site’s PMC User I/O
Connector
Provides up to 64 bits of PMC user I/O from the XMC P14 connector to the backplane.
The 64 bits are routed as 32 differential pairs.
P4
VITA 46 P4 Base-
card I/O Connector
Provides access to the JTAG Selection, PMBus, backplane jumper signals,
RS-232/422 serial channels and Ethernet 1000Base-BX and 1000Base-T ports.
P5
VITA 46 P5 XMC
User I/O Connector
Provides 38 bits of single ended XMC I/O and 8 pairs of high-speed differential XMC
I/O. I/O is routed from the XMC site's J16 connector.
P6
VITA 46 P6
XMC/DIO/SATA/USB
Connector
Provides 12 pairs of high-speed differential XMC I/O that is routed from the XMC site's
J16 connector; 16-bits of DIO.
